Skip Licences

You DO NOT need a skip licence when arranging a hand loaded or grab loaded clearance from us

However, should you decide to order a skip instead of using one of our trucks you will need a skip licence [unless you have an off street parking space].

A skip licence is basically permission from the local authority to place a skip on the public highway outside your property. You will be charged for a skip licence and these charges vary from borough to borough.

Admin charges mean Skip licences can be as much as £135:00 on top of the cost of the skip.

There will usually be a daily charge for the road space taken up by your skip. This could be as much as £35 per day for every day that your skip is on the road.

Skip licences are not instant, you may have to wait 5 days or more before a skip licence comes into force and you cannot take delivery of your skip until the licence is active.

Beware of FLYTIPPERS filling your skip with their rubbish. There are many unscrupulous characters driving around with vans full of rubbish.... IF YOUR SKIP IS UNATTENDED they could save themselves hundreds of £££££'s by dumping their rubbish in your skip..... 24/7.  You MUST consider the security of your skip, the capacity of which is both VERY expensive and VERY vulnerable.

Cost Saving Methods

Separation is the key to reducing waste disposal costs.

Bulk bag or pile your rubbish into two separate categories. DO NOT MIX THE TWO CATEGORIES.

Heavy inert [mineral] waste - e.g. Bricks - Blocks - Concrete - Clays - Soils - Glass - Sands - Tarmac - Plaster [not plasterboard] - ceramic tiles - roof tiles - slates - Turf etc.

Lightweight waste - e.g. - Carpets - Fabrics - Plastics - Wood - Foliage [not turf] - Paper - Cardboard - Beds - Worktops - Plasterboard - Furniture etc.

Landfill tax [charged by the ton] is extremely high on lightweight rubbish but it is charged at a much lower rate on heavy inert waste. Mixing the two types of waste results in a highly taxed, heavy product.

It is possible in some cases to make disposal cost savings on separated loads.

Any disposal cost savings that we can make on separated loads will be shared with the customer.

Muckaway

We do not provide the same muckaway service that is provided by the large 4 axle lorries.

[although we can point you in the right direction for reliable large grab lorry operators if this is what you need].

We excel on smaller / restricted access sites where the larger lorries either won't fit, or may cause unwanted damage to the roadway.

Instead of you having to hand load a skip we can get right next to the material and grab it away, albeit on a slightly smaller scale than the larger grab lorries.

We don't compete with the larger grab lorries, we provide a lower impact alternative, we are easier on the neighbourhood. [We don't cause as many curtains to twitch].

We are competitive with the larger grab lorries on cost if your material to be grabbed away is recycleable, clean, unmixed soil or hardcore.
